VISUALS:                  - 10th annual Hockey Day Minnesota flag-raising ceremony on the shore of Lake Superior (If inclement weather, flag will be presented indoors at Amsoil Arena and officially raised at a later date)

Class AA Minnesota Boys High School Hockey Tournament

Edina vs Bemidji in the first game at 11AM then Duluth East vs. St. Thomas Academy in the second game in the morning session. Undefeated Lakeville North takes on Hill Murray in the first game at 6PM then Blaine vs. Eden Prairie for the last game in the Quarterfinals. I predict Edina over Bemidji, Duluth East over St. Thomas Academy, #1 seed Lakeville North over Hill Murray and Eden Prairie over Blaine. 

Jacob Olson wins 2015 Reed Larson Award

Jacob Olson, a senior defenseman on the Hill-Murray High School boys’ hockey team has been named the winner of the 2015 Reed Larson Award. The award, presented to the top senior boys’ high school hockey defenseman in Minnesota, is based on the following criteria: academics, community/extracurricular activities, citizenship, coachability and, of course, on-ice performance.

#3 seed Duluth East vs #1 seed Elk River Thursday night at Amsoil Arena for 7AA Boys Hockey final

Duluth East held on for a 3-2 victory against Grand Rapids as the Greyhounds got out shot 40-21 in the game in which the Thunderhawks had 22 shots on goal in the third period. Goalie Gunnar Howg played probably his best game as a East goalie. Shay Donovan Ash and Nick Altmann scored for East while Alex Adams and Jonah Bischoff scored for Rapids. The Greyhounds will play number one seed Elk River on Thursday Night at 7PM at Amsoil Arena for the right to go to State in Section 7AA. Elk River clobbered Cloquet 9-1 to get to the championship game.

These are just my Predictions. Monday I will put up the actual teams in the finals and my predictions for each Sections who goes to state.

 

Thief River Falls makes it to Girls State High School Championship game.

The Thief River Falls Prowlers make it to Saturday's Championship game against Blake after beating South St. Paul 4-1 in the second Semi-final game at the Xcel Energy Center. This was the Prowlers first appearance to the Girls Hockey State Tournament. They put 53 shots on goal in their 4-1 victory as South St. Paul goalie and captain Sydney Conley made 49 saves in the loss. South St. Paul has been to the tournament 14 times, the most of any team.

Defending State Champs wins first semi-final game at Girls State Hockey Tournament

Blake School wins first Semi-Final game 3-0 over Red Wing at the Girls 2015 State High School Hockey Tournament in Class A. Sarah Chute scored the first goal at 15:53 in the second period with Jordan Chancellor scoring two third period goals to advance the Bears to the Championship game tomorrow at 4PM at the Xcel Energy Center against the winner of South St. Paul vs. Thief River Falls winner.

Lake Superior Conference Boys High School Hockey tonight at Duluth Heritage starting at 5:15

Come out to the Duluth Heritage Sports Center tonight for the Lake Superior Conference Boys High School Hockey Jamboree. Everything starts at 5:15. There will be Dance Team Performance tonight too. Hockey teams in the Conference are Ashland, Cloquet, Duluth Denfeld, Duluth Marshall, Hermantown, North Shore, Proctor and Superior. Dance teams performing Duluth Denfeld, Duluth Marshall, Hermantown and Superior. Each Hockey team will play 3 twenty minutes periods against different teams.

Northland Players make 2014 USA National Development Camp

7 Northland players make 16 and 17's Boys 2014 USA Hockey National Development Camp to be held in Amherst, NY June 26-July 2, 2014 for the 17's (1997) and July 7-13 for 16's (1998)

St. Luke's Orthopedic All-Star High School Hockey Series tonight at the Amsoil Arena

The St. Luke's Orthopedic & Sports Medicine High School All-Star Hockey Series presented by CCM starts tonight at Amsoil Arena in Duluth and IRA Civic Center in Grand Rapids Wednesday night. The skills-competition starts at 5:45 and game at 7:15 both nights. The All-Star teams are from the Duluth area and the Iron Range area. Duluth leads the series 10-5 over the Iron Range since the event started in 1999.
